Setup

  1. TrueCrypt must be installed ;-)
TrueSimpleCrypt is currently designed for TrueCrypt release 4.3a. It is not compatible with TrueCrypt 5.0 (or higher) at this time.
  2. A Java 5 (or higher) JRE is required. Install it via "sudo apt-get install sun-java5-bin" or the Synaptic package manager, if you are using Ubuntu. Otherwise, grab it from java.com or ask your Linux distributor for advice.
  3. As mounting volumes not mentioned in fstab requires root access, TrueSimpleCrypt must be run by the root user. If it is not, it will try to restart itself within the root account. You are likely to see a password dialog because of that feature. Enter the root's/your password (depending on your system) and continue.
  4. Have fun!
